David's Story
After high school, I attended U of A at Anchorage for a semester where I met my future wife, Holly Adams. She graduated from Service HS that spring. Unfortunately for me and Holly, at the end of that semester, my dad moved our family back to Texas.
Holly and I did the long distance romance thing with me working as a draftsman so I could fly back every 6 months. After 3 trips, we decided to get married. In August of 1980, at the ripe old age of 20, we got married in Holly's home state of Washington.
I moved Holly down to Texas since I was already the steady draftsman job. Now that I had a wife to support, I had to put school on hold and follow after my dad into the petro-chem industry. After 6 months of that and both of us missing Alaska, I had an opportunity to work for Lockheed-Martin in Colorado.
Colorado satisfied our longing for mountainous terrain and after 4 years we decided to settle down and start a family. Within the next 3 years we had 2 son's- Scott and Adam. In 1986, the Challenger Shuttle traged...Expand for more
y caused the aerospace industry to down-size and in 1987 we left Colorado for the greener pastures of oil & gas back in Texas. 5 years later our 3rd son, Dylan, was born.
Currently we are living in Katy,Texas. I'm still making a great living in the petro-chem engineering business and Holly is working for the school district. Our oldest son has a beautiful daughter and he also works for a petro-chem company.
I spend my free time working on my 5 cars & 3 computers. I still shoot my guns, hunt, travel and fly when I can fit them in between my job and family. Still a lot of things I haven't done but want to. Still healthy but can tell my age is starting to slow my body down but my mind is still young.
I have fond memories of Bartlett- punching computer cards in Mr. Mason's class, building popsicle stick bridges in physics, and target practice in the rifle range- wow, how many schools have a rifle range!
My best friend was Chuck Mohler and he's the only one I still keep in touch with. Hope this site changes that.
