David's Story
A lot of Spartans knew that besides music, my other interest was ice skating. I spent a good part of my junior and senior year at the arena at Tower Plaza. After graduation, I enlisted in the Navy but didn't go to Boot Camp until February 1969. I spent almost 4 years onboard an Aircraft Carrier. When I got out I went to Phx College and worked at the ice rink. I accepted a job at Paradise Valley High school as a AV technician. I married, but realized I couldn't raise a family with what the school system was paying, so I went to work at the Post Office. We had a daughter and became legal guardians of my wife's nephew. We divorced shortly after. I also reenlisted in the Naval Reserve for additional monthly income. Through a PO work conflict, I switched from Navy Reserve to AZ Army National Guard. I retired from military service with a combined total of 40 years. I also retire...Expand for more
d from the PO after 30 years. I married my love of my life in 1998 and are having a wonderful life. We met through my retail ice skating business. Together we opened a very successful store for seven years. I also went to work for a arena in North Scottsdale, but retired and after being a Native Phoenician, moved to Prescott. I need to mention that through my skating involvement, I became an official with the US Figure Skating Association as a Music Coordinator. From 1986 until about 10 years ago, I traveled all over the US playing music for Regional, National and International Figure Skating Competitions. I was honored to attend the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City as an Music Technician.
Currently in Prescott, I am involved in the Central Arizona Concert Band and the Prescott Pops Symphony Orchestra as a percussionist. My wife and I enjoy camping and traveling in our RV.
