David's Story
Life
Work life: 62-64, Delco Radio, Kokomo, IN; 65-66, IU Business Placement Office, while pursuing MBA; 66-70, Illinois Department of Business and Economic Development, Springfield, IL; 70-77 Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, IL; 78-79, West Virginia Broadcasting Corporation, Morgantown, WV; 80-82, U.S. Small Business Administration; Springfield, IL; 83-87, Readers Digest Association; Carmel, IN; 88-97, PC and network support positions with central Indiana consulting companies; 97-2003, Verizon (formerly GTE), PC and network support, Westfield, IN; retired 11/03. As of fall 2007, still do some support work at Verizon.
Home life: first marriage, 1964, adopted son, Eric (born 1961), daughter Kelly, (born 1965). Presently, and irrevocably, married (1986), to Dianna, who grew up in Burlington, Indiana and graduated with a degree in English from Ball Sate. Diannas daughters Stephanie (born 19...Expand for more
71) and Nicole (born 1975) followed in Eric and Kellys footsteps, all graduating from Indiana University, a special embarrassment to this Purdue Pete of 1959.
Interests and activities: Travel, especially to San Diego, to visit brother John (WLHS 58, IU, IU Law School), Kelly (and grandsons Tanner David, born 2003, and Finnegan Knoll Slizza, born 2005)and Nicole (and grandson Elias, born 1999), and Uncle Steve (who takes up several pages in my expanded autobiography); Stephanies children Rachel (born 1997), Zachary (born 1999) and Sophia (born 2002) who live within a mile of us in Carmel; Eric and Jonathon Young Knoll (born 2003); Brown Palace Gang, an aging group of hunting buddies who swap tall stories in Brown County, Illinois; and, exploration of the possibilities for the next phase of my life ... whatever in the heck that might be.
