I am from Huntington Beach, California. I lived at 16351 Birdie Lane Huntington Beach, CA. I went to Metal View Elementary School from 1960-1968, Marina High School from 1968-1971. I was the first to Graduate 1 year early from Marina High School after graduating he joined the Navy at 17 & served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Kitty Hawk CVA 63 and went to Vietnam I was there from 1972 thru 1973, in 1972 in Oct 12, 1972 there was a Racial Riot the worst in military history! The Military covered it up by calling it a Brawl involving around 100 sailors, when in reality it was started by 5 men & by the time it was over the Racial violence got as large as 1000 sailors, again The Military covered it up by calling it a Brawl? I know for I was there & was caught in the middle & was lucky to come out with only a miner head wound not life threatening! USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) was the first Aircraft Carrier to go to war after 9/11/2001 for Operation Enduring Freedom. USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) was the last of the old Aircraft Carriers to be decommissioned on May/12/2009 after Celebrated 40 years of active service! We were going to get a Presidential Unit Commendation Ribbon because of the Racial Riot the Navy gave instead gave us the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon 1972 for being the best ship in the fleet for many Aircraft Carriers breakdown or had problems & had to return for repairs! This was the real cause of the Racial Riot for our Caption keep prolonging our stay over & over, the men wanted to go home to their families for Christmas 1972. One of the Aircraft Carriers had to return because someone dropped a wrench in one of the 4 engines; another lost a propeller on one of the engines this forces the Captions to return home for repairs!
