David's Story
Trying to figure out if you actually knew me?
Let's try four years on the wrestling team only 103 pounds and 5' 1" in 1969 my Sophomore year. Penny Turner had to be taller than me to meet the height requirement for Little Colonels. My brother Rob graduated in 1968 and also wrestled. Took all my math and science classes with the class of '71 until Colonel White ran out of quality education.
Recruited into the White Nights so I wore those stupid ties to lunch and collected your lunch trays. This did not result in membership with the popular kids, but, I was allowed to hang on the fringe. Played Euchre with the class of '71, David Hunt and Scott Wolters, at lunch until the game was outlawed, then we went out to lunch to play euchre. Kept statistics at the basketball games, Went to the football games with Kathy Wright's boyfriend; at least he got to date a cheerleader. Took a bottle of Haig & Haig Pinch to a party senior year and Bruce Sweitzer had to drive me home in a stick shift Mustang. Thanks Bruce for inventing don't let friends drink and drive.
I played golf with Jim Rue, yearbook with Louis...Expand for more
e Gessel, went to Israel with Cherryl Lubow, was president of the youth group at Temple Israel. I went on the community service outing to tear down a garage. I protested against pay toilets. I had a terrible crush on at least five girls in our school who I am sure I never told and never asked out. I still have a picture of one of these girls which I grabbed from the year book files. You can laugh about that and you can admit that you too had a crush on somebody who might one day be on these classmate pages.
I went to the University of Michigan and met a girl. I am still living in West Bloomfield, Michigan with my wife of 30 years and our almost 22 year old daughter. Still listed in the phone book in West Bloomfield, MI. My pet dogs live two miles away with my mother-in-law (like grandchildren, just play with them and give them back) My mother still lives in Dayton and we get down there to visit a few times a year.
Just found my copies of the '71 and '72 yearbooks. Jim Osburne has scanned the '72 book in; but I seem to have forgotten to send in my photo.
Drop me a line if you get a chance.
