David's Story
Life
David W. Stewart was born 11 Feb 1964. He graduated C.E. Byrd H.S. in May of 1982. He completed basic training (U.S. Air Force) at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. After basic training, he reported to Keesler AFB, MS where he completed Technical Training School. His first posting was at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England (Aug 1982 - Aug 1984). During this assignment, he deployed to Turkey and to Italy. He then transferred to Pisa, Italy (Aug 1984 - Oct 1986). Remaining in Europe, he was reassigned to Wiesbaden, Germany (Oct 1986 - Apr 1990). Following this assignment, he was assigned to Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Offutt AFB, NE (Apr 1990 - Apr 1992). During this tour, he deployed to Honduras (Central America) with duty in Nicaragua and El Salvador. After returning to Nebraska, he was reassigned to MacDill AFB, FL (HQ U.S. Central Command, commanded by General H. Norman Swartzkopf) (Apr 1992 - Jun 1995). During this assignment, he deployed in support of Operation DESERT SHIELD. He later was assigned to the 51st Fighter Wing, Osan Air Base, South Korea (Jul 1995 - Jul 1996). (Jul 1996 - Jul 1999). During this tour he deployed in support of Operation RESTORE HOPE and Operation ALLIED FORCE (Operations in Bosnia-Herzegovia). He was once again assigned to Italy, Camp Darby (Jun 1999 - Sep 2002). In Sep 2002, he transferred to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, Wyoming. In Jan 2003 he, once again, deployed to the Persian Gulf (Qatar and Baghdad, Iraq) in support of Special Operations (Operation Iraqi Freedom; Enduring Freedom). He departed Baghdad, Iraq, May 2003 and returned to Wyoming. In April 2004, he retired from the U. S. Air Force after 22 years of service to his country.
He has an associates degree in Information Management and is finalizing a bachelors degree in Psychology (2001). He has completed the Noncommissioned Officer Preparatory Course, the Airman Leadership School, the Noncommissioned Officer Academy and is currently completing the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy.
He is currently employed as a civilian contractor (Network Administrator) in Baghdad, and Al Hillah, Iraq.
David is married to Karen Green of Norfolk, England and has two daughters (Chantee' 17 and Leigha 7). David currently resides in Fort Collins, Colorado (USA).
