Dawn's Story

Life Well, I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life - I just knew I didn't want to be bored doing it. Think I definitely got that part right. After a stint in the Marine Corps (actually ran into a classmate, James Wesley, at Kaneohe Bay on Oahu in Hawaii when we were both enlisted - how's that for a small world?) I finished school up and had just been accepted at the Foreign Service school in Arlington, VA, when I was recruited by the CIA (no kidding here, folks) and ended up working with them from 1987 to 1997. Tired of low-gov't pay and crazy travel - I left the Agency and went contract at the Pentagon for the next 7 years. I ran the IT training dept for the Office of the Secretary of Defense - hiding my tattoos and being the resident square peg in a round hole. After losing one of my best friends on 9/11 - I founded the US Angels, a female motorcycle club in the DC area and spent the next few years raising funds for the Army Fisher House and our returning wounded soldiers and their families. Always the impulsive type - usually it worked out pretty good but it finally bit me in the ass when I up and married a knucklehead I met at bike week - landed in Vegas literally 40 days later. Don't really recommend that, by the way. Anyways, realized the mistake and...Expand for more
decided South Carolina would be a good place to hide out, loaded up both my bikes, my dog and the essentials. Had no idea what I was going to do for a living, as a TS clearance doesn't mean a whole lot down in the bible belt. After I got here, realized the keys to the harley were MIA - rode the chopper to the local Harley shop to order new ones. Guess you could say I was "discovered" there by a local producer who was just putting together a new motorcycle show. They offered me the job and I've been totally winging it ever since. Carolina Cruiser is now 18 months old - I've done the show from Daytona Beach to Vegas and interviewed some of the top bike builders in the world. Most recently I was asked to do my show on the Hogs on the High Seas biker cruise and rode the captain's harley ON the ship. Well, the divorce is final - thank god - the show is doing great and thanks to a huge cult following on myspace, the show is averaging 5000 hits a day. Go figure... By the way - anyone who's on myspace, I'm at truchopperchick I sure ain't bored. Dawn p.s. Yea, I know - this all sounds like total BS, right? Whenever I do an interview or have to write stuff down, it sounds like BS to me, too. Just google my name sometime - amazing how long articles and crap stay online.
