Dawn's Story
Here's the short end of a long story: Right after graduating high school I moved to La Selva Beach (Santa Cruz) and went to college there. Mostly, I just went to THE BEACH there! :) It was convenient; my front door was literally only a few steps from the shore, and I loved it! I met people from all over the world, made a lot of friendships, and I learned to surf---albeit, not well, but I had fun anyway--all while managing to get in a full load at school and part-time work at an insurance agency in Aptos. During the three years I lived there, I really enjoyed the beach life! To this day I still hold out hopes that I will live there again someday! (Maybe after retirement?)
After Santa Cruz I moved back over the hill to San Jose. I continued taking night classes, and worked during the day at Royal Insurance located in the tallest of the (then only 2) towers in The Pruneyard. Through a friendship ...Expand for more
I had with a co-worker, he introduced me to his best friend, Jim Aiello, who is now MY best friend and husband! One-year-and-two-weeks later, in April 1985, we were married. We have now been married 36 years. We have two children. My son Jimmy is 33. My daughter Courtney is 32. She got married in April, 2016, and I now have 2 granddaughters: Taylor, 3-1/2 and Adelyn just turned 2.
We still live in San Jose. After working in administrative work since age 14, I became completely burnt out on it and I decided to change "careers". I began working in the security field and have worked for the past 16 years at the Cupertino, CA corporate offices of a company whose name I am not allowed to print, but is the name of a fruit and is well-known for making phones.
So, pretty much, that's it in a nutshell. Waiting for the next adventure (which will be retirement in November—can’t wait!).
See you at the beach!
