Dawn's Story

Life Soon after graduating from high school, I became a temporary nanny. I ended up meeting a great family and worked exclusively for them as a live-in nanny for 3 years. I got to see and do things I never would have been able to, Thanks to their extreme generosity. I'm still in contact with them to this day. After working for them, I decided to move South which is what I always said I'd do since I never did like the snowy weather of Michigan. I moved to Ft. Myers where some of my relatives are. I worked in retail at Express where I was assistant manager at the waterside shops in Naples then assistant manager with Gymboree and working part time at Wellington Academy as an assistant pre-school teacher. I ended up meeting my husband, David, that had moved here to Florida from Chicago just 3 years before me. We ended up engaged about a year later and then married with children :)- 3 of them- all boys (so far-lol). Jonas is now 5 years old, Keegan is 3 and Jaden is 1 1/2. They keep me pretty busy but I love being a mommy. I try to keep in shape by going to the gym at least 5 times a week at 5AM- before the children wake and my mommy job starts again. I'm now working part time for Cultural Care Au Pair as an LCC (local childcare coordinator). I help in matching the families with au pairs that come over on a j-1 visa and stay with the family providing childcare fo...Expand for more
r them for 1 year. I also host monthly meetings for the girls/guys and act as a mediator when problems arise- Fun, Fun Fun! I met my best friend, Kati, from Germany when she was here back around 1992 in the program. Glad to see that they have expanded further into Florida, thus having a position just for me :) Very rewarding job in which to help the au pairs and families through the cultural exchange experience, and the travel perks are great. Recently aquired my new sequoia which I kept bugging David for-lol and I LOVE it. Oh, and we have a new kitty named Shiam- a pointed devon rex, that is just too adorable. So, that's about it. So much has changed in my life over the last several years. For anyone that knew my mom, Theresa, she passed 1 1/2 years back after years of stuggling with MS. We miss her very much and know she's in a better place now without pain. I missed my 10th year class reunion- unfortunately no one got ahold of me. I tried to contact a few people whom lived in town still so that they could alert me if a reunion was planned, but never got my calls returned :( Hopefully I can make the next because I would love to. If any of our class officers want help in planning the next one, I would be more than happy to help, just let me know :) I have lots of photos posted in two photo albums on this site, for anyone that use to know me many years ago :)
