Dawn's Story

Life I currently live in the San Francisco bay area. I moved out to northern California in January 1995 after the death of my grandmother. I recently found an amazing apartment in the east bay near Lake Merritt (Oakland) and I work in San Francisco near Golden Gate park with a little 4 month old Irish boy (whose older "sister" is a dog!). I've been a nanny for 21 years now (literally half of my life since I just turned 42) and I've loved almost every minute of it! (minus the 6 weeks earlier this year with the 10 month old twin girls...the girls were great, their mom was another story!) I now have 11 kids total (not including the twins) from 4 months old all the way up to 26 (& married for 3 years!). I'm looking forward to being a "grand-nanny" one of these days. I have two funny little "children" of my own...they're Chiweenies (miniature dachshund/chihuahua mix). Between the two of them they weigh just under 11 pounds. Murphy is a whopping 3.8 pounds and Sydney (the "little" sister) tips the scales at just under 7 pounds. Last year I rode in my second SF Pride parade with Dykes on Bikes (with the dogs of course!) What a riot!! This year will be parade ride number 3...on my new Piaggio MP3, three wheeled scooter. We're going to be dresse...Expand for more
d up as The Cat in the Hat (me of course) and the dogs will be Thing 1 & Thing 2 (the Piaggio will be THING 3! It'll be decked out as the machine that cleans the house before mom gets home! If you're in SF the last Sunday of June 2008, come check out the parade! I'm loving life in northern California and while I miss some of the AZ people/places, I don't miss the heat a bit! Four years ago I was finally "officially" diagnosed with ADHD. So, for those of you who remember me from back then...that should explain a LOT! I didn't even realize what a struggle my life was at that time. I found various different & unique ways around many of the difficulties that go along with this crazy brain wiring. In my adult life this included finding a career I love & that keeps me out of the confines of an office or having to do boring, repetitious stuff. I need to be free and this work allows me not only the freedom to physically move around but the freedom to completely be myself. I'm still just a big ol' kid who loves to have fun and play with other kids. I've met some wonderful people since living out here but one of the closest friends I have actually grew up in Scottsdale. It's nice to know someone else out here who grew up on Wallace & Ladmo too!
