Dawn's Story
I hope anyone who travels to California will take a trip to Paso Robles to say hello. I own a restaurant called Odyssey World Cafe with my partner and ex husband.
We're half way between LA and San Francisco and right in the middle of wine country ~ just thirty minutes from the Pacific Ocean. We opened in 1997
One day I turned around in the restaurant and looked into the eyes of Dale Sillan from Fishkill and RECOGNIZED her immediately...even though I had not seen her since we were both probably 18 years old!
She has since moved here from Bermuda with her charming Welsh husband and her lovely daughter, Sian. Dale's high school boyfriend Dave Livingston also stopped in once (with them).
A quick run down of "my life" : I married my college boyfriend and we lived in Athens, Greece had a baby boy named Gere, then moved to Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai had a second son named Travis there, moved to suburbs of London for five ye...Expand for more
ars. The boys continue to be the light of my life. After 10 years overseas we moved to Paso Robles California to get into the wine business. Subsequently got a divorce, THEN opened a restaurant with now ex husband ~ that's why we call it the Odyssey! ~ "A Journey of Many Ups and Downs..." Our restaurant is amazingly successful (still). We created a restaurant with the food we love to eat! I married a wonderful man 8-8-08! Now we're great friends with Dale Sillan and her husband, Huw -- they're now creating their own wine called Jade Moon! Restaurant still going strong, 13 year anniversary December 2010. Life is very good. California has been fun. We are all aging fairly well!
We are also in the vacation rental business. We not only feed you we also give you a bed!
