Dean's Story
Life
Went to Michigan State University after high school with Gary Zerona as a roommate. Joined the USMC Reserves half way through for the GI Bill. Graduated in December 1992 with a B.S. in Physics. Joined the US Navy soon after graduation as a nuclear machinist mate, stationed in Orlando, Florida (Boot camp, 'A' school, & Power School)/ Ballston Spa, New York (Prototype School)/ Bremerton (stationed aboard aircraft carrier USS Nimitz). Then picked up a commission as a Naval Meteorological / Oceanographic Officer, transferred to Seattle, Washington (stashed in a reserve center) / Gulfport, Mississippi (Basic Oceanographic Accession Training). I married my college sweetheart, Tracy Cramer from Bay City, in January 1995 while stationed in Washington State. logy & Oceanography Center (a supercomputer center that forecast the weather globally). Due to irreconcilable differences got divorced May 2000. After that I was forward deployed in Sasebo, Japan on the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3 & later USS Essex LHD-2 (part of 7th Fleet Amphibious Readiness Group). My next tour of duty in Puerto Rico as the Officer In Charge of the weather detachment on Roosevelt Roads Naval Station; which I helped to close about a year after the island of Vieques (bombing range) was shut down. Also met my wife in Puerto Rico, Janeth Alvarez, we were married in Monterey, California in June of 2005. Left the US Navy active duty; but remain in the inactive reserves. Now living in Pittsboro, North Carolina settling down in one spot. Had a son, Sebastian, on April 8th, 2008. Seeking full time employment in the IT/IS sector currently.
