DeAnn's Story
DeAnn Lubell-Ames is a prize-winning writer, publicist, and a teacher of the arts for more than 30 years.
She spends a great deal of her time doing all of the above, as well as camping and hiking. DeAnn and her daughter took a fun trip to San Francisco last fall to attend the wedding of a relative and to explore the town. Jeff and DeAnn went to Minnesota for another relative wedding and spent a week in the northern lakes region in a beautiful cabin on a lake with lots of nearby hiking.
In April and May of 2018, she spent nearly a month exploring Thailand with her partner, Jeff. Jeff lived in Southeast Asia for 16 years and was familiar with the culture and language. They were in the big city of Bangkok twice, on the Gulf of Siam beach for most of the month, and in Northern Thailand for about five days near the Burma border trekking through the jungle and primitive villages with native guides.
She lost her handsome, funny, talented husband Lee Ames to cancer on October 1, 2015 almost five years after loosing her precious husband, Joe Lubell. Both men were exceptional and she dearly misses them both.
As of August 1, 2016 her marketing and pr business is acquiring a new client...The McCallum Theatre as its publicist. Her other client is the City of La Quinta. She is on the board of Palm Springs Women in Film and Television.
In April of 2016, she joined the production team of a feature film called Do It Or Die as their media consultant and also got to play a small roll in the movie. The film is due to premiere in January 2017. It is about the true story of a Palm Springs, California socialite who is kidnapped in 1979 and held captive in the desert for four days.
She produced seven well-known ballets and wrote one original. In the 1980s, DeAnn, and her late husband, Joe, moved to Florida operating an oil and gas business in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. During this time, the Boca Raton Florida Magazine and Boca Raton News asked her to write articles and columns. She represented many Florida nonprofit groups as their public relations representative, while producing luncheon fundraisers and dinners.

e Coachella Valley in 1991 with her late husband, who passed away in 2010. Since her arrival to the desert, she has written many articles for the Palm Springs Life Magazine, The Desert Sun, and The Desert Magazine. Published works include a novelette, historic and educational books for Little Folk Visuals, as well as a medical educational guide on the functions of the human body.
Her historical novel, The Last Moon, was released in early March 2010. Since then it has won five national awards including Books and Authors, Hollywood Book Festival, and the Royal Dragonfly Awards. She has won 2 International awards inlcuding Finalist for 2012 da Vinci Eye/Eric Hoffer Award and most recently Reader's Choice Gold-Medal Award for Historical Fiction. Her latest awards include the Southern California Book Fest in the category of general fiction, the 2015 Paris Book Festival honorable mention and most recently she was the winner of the Amsterdam Book Festival in the category of history.
She has served on the Governing Auxiliary Board of the Eisenhower Medical Center, as well as other Coachella Valley Boards. She is a public relations and marketing representative and has handled public relations for Angel View, The Coachella Valley Symphony, Olive Crest, Daughters of the American Revolution, Palm Springs Women in Film and Television, as well as many other non-profits and private enterprises.
DeAnn was a producer for Valley Views talk show. She produces fundraising events and has co-produced two the Broken Glass Awards for the Palm Springs Women in Film and Television with her late husband Lee.
Her beautiful daughter, Tanya, and gorgeous 13-year-old grandson, Jake, live about two hours away in Los Angeles in Studio City, CA.
DeAnn has a farm of animals that include three rescue dogs, one rescue cat, a dove, and a fish. Her newest addition, Amy, a puppy mill rescue, is half mini Australian Shepard and half Chinese Crested Powder Puff, Amy won first place in the small canine category at the 2016 Pets on Parade...a huge summer event in the desert that supports two animal non-profits Pegasus Riding Academy and Loving All Animals.
