Deanna's Story

Welcome to everyone stopping by my page! Isn't it great to be able to reconnect after all these years. I live in Calgary, up in Tuscany and have an 18 year old daughter who graduated from Westmount Charter, which is the old Viscount Bennett. So that was fun to see her attend the old stomping grounds. She is headed off to NYC in the fall to go to school. She is planning on getting her BFA in musical theatre. I admire her and will miss her tremendously. I am hoping to do a concert this summer to send her off in style. I'll keep you posted on that one. I am still singing and vocal coaching as well. That has been so fulfilling. I song-write with my students so that makes it a really personal and wonderful experience for both me and for them. Speaking of songwriting, I have another cd coming out which will include a few 'diddies' I wrote. It is a Jazz cd which was a long time in the making but I am very excited about it. Ummmm, what else. Oh, the high school reunion was a few weeks ago. It happened as a result of facebook and many of us on there reminiscing about the last reunion. So Susan Bevan said, 'let's do another one'. The attendance wasn't what they were hoping for but it was still great to see so many faces from the past. Unfortunately I was not able to chat with everyone but...Expand for more
believe me I saw 'you' there. I hired a band called 'the 60's band' to back me up for the night. That way I had no pressure to sing all night. Okay it was a bit loud but, it was fun. My profile photo is me singing with another band of young guys who opened for Trooper this past winter. It was on the ski hill in Fernie. What a fun time I must say. I felt 20 years old again. I really did! It's amazing how music can do that. In a nutshell, I feel so blessed with my life and where it has taken me. I'm no Jann Arden but I have been thrilled to have the musical life I have had and wouldn't change a thing. I wish we could all get together more often. I am such a sucker for gatherings especially when music is what brings people together. Lee May's band also played at the reunion. Wow! What a great talent he is. I am hoping one day he will let me sing with him. I would LOVE that. A few days ago Donna Olsen and Shelley Peculius and I got together for coffee and a long lunch. That was so great to visit with them. I hope we can all meet together again some time before the snow flies. Ugh. Winters in Calgary are not my favorite thing. Until the next time dear Viscount Bennett Alumni, be well and feel free to email or contact me any time. I would love to hear from you. Love Deanna
