Deanna's Story
NEW: now it's nearly Thanksgiving, 2023. Since I last wrote, we have been blessed with 3 great grandsons for a total of 4 as well as another grandson.
Neither of us ever caught Covid, Praise the Lord and vaccines! We both faced other serious health challenges and underwent emergency surgeries. Right now we are enjoying retirement awaaay out here in the country.
Why is writing about ourselves so difficult? Here goes... In some ways life has gone as I wished, in others not so much. My father Dean Foster died of a brain aneurysm in 1980, my mother Effie Foster died unexpectedly this spring and my youngest sister Stacey died in 2006
Life has not been all tragedy. I married in 1977, this year is our 40th anniversary. We have 1 son, 3 granddaughters and a brand new grandson. I was a grandma at 38.
I spent nearly thirty years teaching school and then my...Expand for more
school was consolidated. Early retirement for me. Education outlook in eastern Oklahoma is terrible. My husband is a retired art teacher.
We built our house board by board on 25 acres in Sequoyah county. Don't know if we will ever be finished. We don't seem to raise anything but rocks!!!
I became an ordained minister so I could officiate at my granddaughters weddings this fall. One down and one to go.
Those are a few of the highlights of the past 42 years, maybe more to come later.
Now it is Thanksgiving 2019. Most of us are anticipating (with either pleasure or unease) time with family. This will not be the happy holiday Larry and I had looked forward to. I cannot not give details on a public forum but certain loved ones are facing very difficult medical conditions that can be life altering. I am asking any of you who will to pray for our family.
