Deanna's Story
Greetings to all! I was going to write a fascinating story of life's adventures since graduating high school (smile), but it disappeared twice down the memory hole of my laptop, so this one was written instead.
I married my soul-mate, Kevin, 42 years ago. We have 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 honorary grandchildren. In spite of the curveballs we've had in life, (doesn't everyone get some curveballs?), we laugh every day and see each day as a new adventure. Because it is.
We have always traveled our own path and kind of marched to the beat of a different drummer, so the last few years we ........
........owned some property in the country with an old homestead. Actually, the homestead itself was long-gone and only an old dilapidated chimney remained. We loved that old homesite and decided in our late 50's to build a cabin there - and to build it ourselves! We did and finished it with "a little help from our friends" (smile) and family. We ended up liking it so much we retired there. The dilapidated chimney is still standing, but it now has flowers around it. For the past few weeks, we have had a "pet" deer who likes to hang out in our yard with us. We let her stay as long as she behaves and doesn't eat ALL the flowers. Two of my sisters live down the street; our son lives nearby, and now our oldest granddaughter wants to move here - away from the city. Like me, she loves the country and nature more than the city.
SOME OF LIFE'S OTHER LITTLE ADVENTURES ALONG THE WAY.........Expand for more
* Our grandkids are ALWAYS an adventure
* Old friends and new friends ... an adventure
* Learned to scuba dive
* Killed a copperhead snake by myself! (I HAD NO CHOICE - IT WAS HIM OR ME!!!!) I won. (smile)
* Traveled all over the states and into Canada, but home was always best.
* Caring for my Mother-In-Law, Ruth, after she had several strokes, was definitely one of the biggest adventures (and challenges) of my life. She had class, grace and wisdom.....and was my dear friend. One of those "curveballs" that was a tremendous honor.
.......NOW THAT IT'S BEEN 50(!) YEARS .......
Our upcoming 50th high school reunion made me reflect on those high school years, and memories I have of so many from our Class of '72 (and other classes). We had such a great group to travel through those "embarrassing teenage angst" years with. Also want to wish all of you well through the trying times our country is currently facing. I see with clear eyes and worry for our children and grandchildren.....
Well, that's about it. Would love to hear from you. Not very good at maneuvering on this site, so email me if you want. I will post some photos after getting more familiar on how to navigate, but will have to ask my grandkids how to do that - HA! I joined Classmates years ago, but life intervened and so didn't get back on again for decades. Time surely flies by alongside all those curveballs.
Peace and blessing to you..... and a hat tip to the "Class of '72"..
