Deanna's Story

October 2010 - Well, I guess I'm in the dog house. I missed the Reunion. It was unavoidable on Friday night, and we opted to go to the Farm on Saturday/Sunday to work and play with the Buffalo. We've discovered that our newest bull, Hoss, is even tamer than we suspected. He likes to have his head scratched! Imagine that, 1700 pounds of Big Baby Bull Buffalo. Who'da thunkit? Hope y'all are doing well! January 2009 - Had enough of the Hannibal Clinic, June 2007! Went home to play for a while. Weston and I moved to the new "old" house and spent 5 months remodeling before becoming gainfully self-employed ;-) I am blessed that I get to work with my Boyfriend every day. We run a successful HVAC business and also farm/manage about 800 acres. Every day is different and I'm no longer stuck in an office with no windows. Instead, I've learned to drive a combine! August 2005 - I'm "newly single" after pulling the plug on a 21 year marriage...hardest decision I ever had to make. I have two great boys - Clinton (3/86) and Weston (4/92). I'm still living in Hannibal, never had a reason to leave, I guess. I keep busy with family, kids sports, working full-time as the Physician Recruiter for the Hannibal Clinic, and playing interior decorator on the weekends. I'm traveling more and more with work, not sure how well I like it though. All the airports and hotel rooms are beginning to look the same! I always seem to be ready to come home before I've even left. I do a little volunteer work and was heavily involved with the Hannibal Parks and Rec Ramp Park project. The project design for the park came from a group of "my boys" brainstorming around our dining room table. It took four years of lobbying Parks & Rec, gathering support and securing funds before making the dream a reality in May 2005. It's very satisfying to see the kids riding at the ramp park, instead of having to dodge them on the streets. For an old woman, I'm holding up fairly well and suspect ...Expand for more
you'd recognize me if we passed on the street. By the way, if you do, please say "Hello". Please realize though, that I stink at remembering names. So, please forgive me for the initial blank stare ;-) Y'all take care, dee School Senior year crush, Jim Murphy! What a cutie! First real "relationship", Fred Reynolds Nov 1980 through Summer 1982. He moved to Kansas City, I didn't! Teachers...loved Mr. Baker in Jr. High..."People!" Mrs. Snyder, Accounting, was wonderful...I even used what I learned in her class for a few years. Workplace High school - worked at Ponderosa and then The Golden Ruler, keeping the books and making counter sales. Fall 1980 - went to work at Tom Boland Ford, accounting job, stayed there for seven years...until I told Tom precisely where to shove it one fine day...lol Moved to another accounting job, Ezra Blue and Sons, stayed two years. Next, went to work for Northeast Missouri Development Authority as Exec. Asst. Held this position for seven years before taking over as the Director (where I stayed for another 2+ years before I "retired" to stay home). Primarily involved in Business Recruitment and Community Development projects, I administered over 10M in MO CDBG grant funds for various projects. Involved in recruiting Enduro Industries, Swiss Colony, Sears, Burger King, etc. and worked on many business expansion projects (Watlow, Intermet, HRH, etc.) I am particularly proud of "my" Swiss Colony recruit and my part in launching the Provenance Project (50 Miles of Art) arts recruitment initiative. I retired in Spring 2000...it took me exactly 6 weeks to go stark raving mad. I was hired as the Physician Relations Coordinator for the Hannibal Clinic in June 2000. I recruited the doctors, added 26 physicians to staff in about 7 years. I also coordinated a mentoring program, and retention activities. I get a kick out of knowing that what I do makes a positive impact on so many in our area. October 2007 - Start-up business!
