Deanna's Story

Well I moved to Vancouver, WA after my second husband split. I was in a three bedroom house in Torrance, CA and couldn't afford the rent with two kids, no job, and no child support. My best friend, Philip Lee had already migrated north to Vancouver and recommended I do the same. In 1990, the cost of living was low and rent was cheap so I did. But I regret it. All it does is rain rain rain rain rain here. I really miss sunny southern Calif. I have a question... Is Westchester High School predominantly black now.? Do any Caucasians still live there? Two good friends I kept in contact with after High School were Scott Martin & Philip Lee. They are both now deceased. The girlfriends I hung with in school were Robin Harris--now Ramsour, Eileen Haley--now Williams, and Ann Offet. I'm currently trying to get in touch with. If you're reading this and can tell me anything about them, please do! One person from my past who I'd really like to see again is Mark Meyer. He lived next door to me from age five to 19. Where are you Mark? Where's Ronnie Traylor? I would love to talk to Roger Spencer, Mike Campbell, Connie & Johnny Mathiasan, Bobby around the corner from Ramsgate Ave., Paul, Pat, & Richard Lee, Steve & Troy Jones, Scott Hall, Rick Hillman, Nancy Hiller, Tracy Torney, Bo in the house next to Osage Ave Elementary, Diane Mead, Jeff Webb, Kitty Kaiser, Lorraine Malurik, Sheryl Herring, Ronny Traylor, Sandra Perkins, Bruce Games, Brian Campbell, David Grant, and lots more. If anyone knows how to get in contact with them of can tell me anything about them, please do. I would...Expand for more
really appreciate it. My favorite way to relax is to walk my dog, Tommy, off his leash, at a river or park when there isn't very many people.there. I love animals and especially dogs. The wildest thing I did in school was hitchhike there and back. I did this a lot. I also went to school barefoot most of the time and the teachers never said anything. I smoked a lot of pot over at the side of the school where there was like a dirt gully and in the back where they took out houses due to the airport. Before, during, and after. Come on, I'm not the only one...fess up. The activities I miss more than anything in the world are the beach!: Playa Del Ray/Toes beach, Manhattan Beach: body surfing, boogie boarding, laying out in the sun, roller blading the bike path, partying in bar Pier 52 (I think it was 52?) to live music, & walking out on the pier to check out the moon...hopefully with a nice guy I met. I miss cool Venice Beach with all the happen-in' goings-on'. I miss tripping around Hollywood, checking out the freaks, fairies,& transvestites and going to the Troubadour and the Roxy to hear the latest bands. There is no tanning, swimming, or surfing at the coast in Washington. It is too windy, hardly ever clear & sunny, and rarely warm enough. There are warning signs posted everywhere regarding the strong undertow and there are no lifeguards. Too much cloud cover causes people to stay indoors and therefore an abundance of Washingtonians are out of shape, overweight, and pale. For some reason there are pizza places, blockbusters, and Christian churches at every intersection.
