Deb's Story
Like the rest of you, I cannot believe it’s been nearly 50 years since graduation. We’ve set our 50 Year Reunion for Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 from 6-11pm. We're also planning a tour of the high school that same Saturday at 10am. Can’t wait to catch up with all of you! All of us on the reunion committee want to see you there! Bill & Jan Kennedy Angert, Jayne Barnhart Reizner, Linda Barr Young Dean Dennis, Mel Niemann Dean, and Debbie Sharp Shaw, Debi Hust Allison.
After FHS, I attended Miami University and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science. I spent the summers after my junior and senior years as a Congressional Intern for Cong. Don Clancy in Washington, D.C., then worked as a Legislative Aide for two congressmen. This was all during the Watergate era.
I moved back to Ohio in late 1975 with the goal of working at Miami University. I worked in Miami’s central IT department as a systems analyst, project manager, client support manager, deputy chief information officer, and finally the Vice President for Information Technology...Expand for more
. I retired in 2013 with nearly 40 years at Miami. My master’s degree from Miami is in higher ed administration with a concentration in personnel services and counseling.
My husband, Chris, retired in 2012 after nearly 40 years at Miami as a systems administrator and IT manager. We have been married for more than 40 years and have three sons. Two are married and live in California and we have one grandson. Our youngest son is a student at Miami.
In retirement, I work part-time in a law office as the account specialist, serve as the president of the Oxford Community Foundation Board of Directors, and serve on a committee for the local credit union. Chris and I enjoy working as election pollworkers. I play handbells for our church (not proficiently even after 12 years, sad to say). My passion is genealogy research, with the current challenge to learn more about genealogical applications of DNA. We’re enjoying retirement and more opportunity for traveling.
I’m happy to connect on Facebook (Debra Hust Allison). Blessings to all!
