Debbi's Story

Life 7/23/2021 - Moved to the Panhandle of Florida - gorgeous sunsets and white sand beaches. They call this place "Mayberry on the Gulf"! We love it here! February 2012- moved back to Hampton, VA after retiring from 31+ years with General Dynamics / Lockheed Martin. 4/17/2011 - Married my soul mate! What a whirlwind romance, but it's perfect. We still live in Fort Worth for now, but will be moving back to Hampton. 8/30/2010 - Attended my high school reunion party a month ago and met my soul mate! It's been fabulous! I've never been so happy! You don't have to be looking for someone, but don't close your heart to the possibilities! 9/5/2008 - Recently divorced - Unfortunately I never had any biological kids, but my stepdaughter and family (with my 2 grandsons!) live in Houston. My 2 stepsons are both deceased. I'm involved in a local corvette club and a military organization / museum. My Pets 04/2021 - Now Taka is gone. We've opted not to get any more pets because of traveling 12/2010 - Had to have Tally put down - so sad! Now it's just Taka. 9/21/07 - have two cats - they're now over 3 years old - Taka and Tally. They're tabby/siamese mix. Did have 2 VERY OLD cats, but they're both gone now - one was around 23 and the other was about 17 or 18. My Job 12/8/2011 - RETIRED!!! BUSY. I've worked for a very large company (the same one, despite the name changes!) for over 30 years now. I work in the software process / development / sustainment field. School I went to Paiute Elementary School in Scottsdale, AZ, for 2-1/2 y...Expand for more
ears (6th-8th grades) then went to high school at Scottsdale High School in Scottsdale, AZ but only for 9th grade until we moved back to Virginia, where I went to Kecoughtan High School for grades 10-12. If I could do it again, would I? From the aspect of getting more involved in school activities and doing things with friends, yes. From going to classes, not a chance! Well, OK - maybe. I wish I would have kept in touch with more friends from both elementary and high school. Sometimes I wish I would have stayed in the area, but then I can't beat the job I have, the things I've been able to do because of it, and all the people I've met. Our reunions have been fabulous at reconnecting with these folks! College College for me was almost an extension of high school. Christopher Newport University (College at that time!) didn't have dorms, so I lived at home. I usually went to classes in the morning and then worked in the afternoons! Very little play time unfortunately. Workplace Had to move to Texas for a job! Started in September 1980 and I've been here since. I've made it through a succession of layoffs, mergers and buy-outs - and I'm still having fun and still grateful for a job (career at this point)! I've been fortunate to work on various programs all at the same company, plus a few miscellaneous projects (within those programs) throughout the years. I've traveled a fair amount, and always had a good time. (But then, I usually have a good time wherever I go / whatever I do!) Looking to retire from this career soon!
