Debbie Bender:

CLASS OF 1987
Churchville, NY

Debbie's Story

Life I met my husband, Jim, on a blind date through mutual friends (his boss and my best friend, Jody Luce, who also graduated in Churchville in 1987). We fell in love and just got married on May 22, 2004. 2004 was a very eventful year for me because I also had my first baby on December 7, 2004. Yes, I know I'm a late bloomer LOL. My daughter's name is Lea Elizabeth. Lea is my middle name and was my mother's middle name. My mother suddenly passed away in 2001 from a heart attack. We own a home and have one dog, Payton (named after Walter Payton my favorite football player), and 2 cats (Mr. Campbells and Belle). College I graduated undergraduate school in 1995 at SUNY College ...Expand for more
at Brockport. I had a double major (Social Work and Psychology) and a minor (Studio Art). I then attended graduate school at Roberts Wesleyan College and received my Masters in Social Work in 2000. Workplace After high school, I worked a variety of jobs that put me through college, one being a counselor/Assistant Manager in a group home filled with young adults with mental illnesses. After receiving my MSW, I worked as a clinical therapist for children and adolescents at an outpatient clinic. I did this for approximately 3 1/2 years until I ultimately burned out from the stress. I also have my own side business called D.L. Drawings where I draw portraits from photos. I love it!
