Debbie's Story
Life
I have been with my husband since 1979 and my only child (son) was born January 27,1982. January 27, 1982 was the happiest day in my life. My husband is Craig Turney and my son was Christopher Jon Turney. Christopher was born 9 1/2 weeks early and he weighed 3 lbs and 10 ounces and was 16 1/2 inches long. He was in the hospital for two months.
I have been at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield since January 1979. I am a Claims Anaylst with Wellmark and work on projects.
I had a kidney transplant in July 1994. I received my new kidney from my younger brother Brad Casner who was only 21 at the time. Brad was born in North Carolina in November 1972 after I graduated from high school.
My worst and saddest day in my life was November 8, 2006 when I lost my son. He died on the job. He was electrocuted. Someone turned the circuit on that he was working on after he had checked it to be sure that it was no...Expand for more

Christopher had just brought his first home in June 2006. He had just been engaged to his girlfriend of 8 years. He was in his third year of school to become a Master Electrician. I was looking forward to him getting married and having children. I was looking forward to being a Grandma. These last several months have been terrible and hard to deal with since Christopher was my whole world. Christopher was a good and loving person. He loved his family and numerous friends. I was blessed at his funeral to know that he touched so many lives and was loved by so many people. Everyone thought of my son as a role model and good honest man. What helps me to get through these times is knowing that Christopher believed in God and that is in heaven with God. I know that Christopher is leading the way. His death will help others to follow safety on the job seriously and to be mindful of others on the job.
