Debbie's Story
After graduating from South High School, I went to Friends University and finished off one year there. I then had my first son, Justin, whcih is 18 years old now. I stopped going to school and took care of my son. Three years later I had another son, Jordan, which is now 15 years old. I was a stay-at-home mother because it was my wish to be with my children and not allow anyone to watch my kids. Three years later I had another son, Jathan, which is now 12 years old. I started working some when Jathan was young and then I decided to stay at home for while he was in Elementary School. In 2004, I decided to go back to school at Friends University and finish my degree in Criminal Justice. I recieved my Associate's Degree in 2007 from Friends University in General Studies. r's Degree in Criminal Justice form Friends University. I worked at a couple law firms full time while I atttended school at Friends University trying to accomplish my degree. My oldest son just turned 18 years old on Labor Day 2008. My middle son wil be 16 years old soon and my youngest son will be 13 years old. I currently work for Sedgwick County Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer fro Juveniles. I love my job because I can help these Juveniles think a different way from their current criminal activity. Some days are a challenge for me because I was never raised in a criminal activity setting. I plan to go study law soon at Wash Burn Univeristy of Law School in Topeka. My goal is to get my Masters Degree in Law (Jurdis Doctrine Degree in Law) so I can be a criminal lawyer.
