Debbie's Story
What a life!
I got married right out of high school in September 1979. After leaving high school I worked for about 9 months at a plastics factory. After leaving there I started working for Abbott Laboratories at Abbott Park; in the Hospital Products Division. In 1982, I had my son, which was the greatest day of my life. Truly a blessing! I worked at Abbot for 13 years. In May 1993, Abbott sold their Renal Dialysis buisness to Fresenius USA in Walnut Creek, California. I was offered a job to Manage the Contract Marketing and Administration department at Fresenius, and it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. I was going through a tough divorce, and it was a chance to start over. Having been married since the age of 17, it quite the experience to leave a very secure job, move accross the United States, and completely start over again both personally and professionaly. be closer to his Dad. I had a blast in California and have very fond memories. In fact when I travel back to the area for business today, I still visit my old stomping grounds. After returning to Des Plaines, I started working for APV North America in Rosemont, Illinois. I was Manager of Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections. I spent 7 great years there, and during this time met my current husband Bill. The best step-dad, husband, and friend ever. I currently live in LeClaire, IA and work at KONE Elevators and Escalators in Moline, Illinois. I left APV to work at KONE in March 2001. I'm currently Director, Shared Services, and thoroughly enjoy my job and people in the Quad Cities. My son just got married in September 2009. I not only gained a great daughther in-law named Lacey, but also a beautiful granddaughter named Madelyn Rayne who is 3 years old. I love my family, and have been blessed with good health and a positive outlook on life. I haven't been to a reunion yet, but hope to in the future.
