Debbie's Story
There's so much to tell--I've had an amazingly diverse life. Lot's of wonderful times, but.., also a great deal of loss and sadness. I was fortunate to serve as the personal assistant to First Lady Dagmar Celeste in the 1980s. My office was at the Governor's Residence and the experience was life-changing--I took Lily Tomlin shopping at Lane Avenue Mall, made out with a drunk Nick Nolte, and had the privilege of holding the hand of screen legend Patricia Neal, who needed my assistance moving around at a Governor's Residence event. I also had conversations with Geraldine Ferraro, the first female vice-presidential candidate and was in charge of protocol for a visit from the Italian ambassador to the United States. And there are many more stories--my bridal shower was held at the Residence, which was mind-blowing to say the least and almost made my mother-in-law-to-be like me. We lost our first-born, Caitlin at birth but have two other children, Patrick and Elisabeth. They're now 24 and 22 respectively. Pat has been working on his degree in microbiology as well as working for one of only four female neuro-opthamologists in the country. Yesterday, 1/12/14, he announced he is applying to the OSU medical school for fall 2014. Elisabeth is a May 2013 graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design and works for InterBrand in Cincinnati, which is the "World's Largest Corporate Branding Consultancy". She was recently chosen to produce a video to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wrigley's Doublemint gum , which will be broadcast sometime next year. I've been divorced for over 11 years and currently work for a medical equipment distributor by the name of Sarnova in Dublin, OH. The lowlights are too many and too sad to go into here, but I'm still standing and pushing ahead--always looking for an opportunity to "pay it forward".
