Debbie's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met hy husband, Mike, in the fall of 1987 when we worked at K-Mart on Spring Mountain and Rainbow. We started dating in 1994 and married March 6, 1995. He's a Lt. for LVMPD, Corrections.
My Kids
My daugher, Meagan, was born in 1997 and is in the fifth grade. She's complicated, smart, moody, funny, infuriating... Hey, she's Little Debbie!! Because of her, I know more than I ever thought possible about Harry Potter. She's in her 8th year of dance classes, and is currently enrolled at Nevada Ballet Theater, studying ballet under a wonderful Russian teacher.
No, I'm not having any more children. I only wanted one, and if you knew Meagan, you would know that one is PLENTY.
My Pets
I have four dogs, a bird and a snake.
Me? (September 2006)
I take care of all of the above. I left the glamorous (NOT!) world of PTA behind me in June after a VERY long year of being the President at Betsy Rhodes ES. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with myself during the day (aside from the long list of things to do around the house), but I'm not in a real big hurry.
Some of my friends got me involved in playing Bunco one Friday night a month. Have you heard of this? The game itself is really stupid, but it's great to spend some quality (drunken) time with my friends.
I keep telling myself I'm going...Expand for more
to do this, but I want to get my photos in order. Especially the digital stuff. Holy mackerel, does that stuff pile up. NO - I don't "scrap". Unless it's a project for a special occasion, I prefer plain old photo albums.
I bought an electric bass in March that has been neglected for far too long. It's time to get back to work on that.
School
I think I had much better handwriting in high school than I do now. I wrote all the time. Mrs. Allen's creative writing class was probably the best elective I chose. She was wonderful and very patient. When I think about being able to fill up all those 500 page spiral notebooks... My hand cramps up at the visual image.
I don't think of Band as an elective. That was a given. The people that I spent time with during band all those years will always hold a special place in my heart. We were together at 6:30 in the morning for marching band rehearsal, and again for two hours on Tuesday nights. We traveled together, dated each other, and became one big dysfunctional family. Mr. Lewis was our proud (and sometimes horrified!) Papa.
We (BHS Band Alumni) had an awesome surprise retirement party for Mr. Lewis earlier this year (Spring of 2006) to celebrate his 30 years of dedication to Bonanza. We had such a good time that there's talk of making it a regular occurance.
