Debbie's Story
Life
Debbie (Long)(Ray) Roberts: Currrently I live in Bixby, Oklahoma. I have two daughters. The oldest will graduate this month from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. My younger daughter lives with her older sister and is attending Harding Academy. I am hoping to find a teaching job this fall. I was certified to teach K-6th in Arkansas and just after the first of the year I obtained my certification in Oklahoma. We have lived in Bixby (suburb of Tulsa for a year now. We love being out of the city. I dream of retiring back to Arkansas some day. Some of you may remember that I actually did not graduate from JHS. I married in the summer of 72. When fall rolled around I started to Cosmetology school and obtained my GED while there. Shortly after that we moved to Pocahontas with my husbands job. It was then I decided to go on to college. I taught in Weiner, Swifton and Paragould before we had our first child. We were married ten years when we were blessed with Jenny. nny and I moved back to Jonesboro and were there for a couple of years before moving to Oklahoma for me to go back to school. I also met someone from Oklahoma and three years after Robert died I married Richard. We have Bethany who turned 15 last month. Life has had it's good times and bad but God has blessed me. I look forward to reading what a number of you are doing. Debbie..................This is an update. I joined Classmates a couple of years ago for about a month. I had seen a cousin on here that I had lost touch with so I wanted to reconnect with her. I recently joined again about a week ago. My kids are now grown and gone from home. Well almost, my youngest (20) is a junior in college. The oldest is now 28 and married. She works as a Physicians Assistant for a Dermatologist in Little Rock at two of his satellite offfices, one in Cabot and one in Heber Springs. I taught Kindergarten full time up until a year ago. At that time I unofficially retired....of course I am NOT old enough to retire. I am doing some substitute work, mostly at the last school that I was at before. I am trying to decide if I want to change careers.....well actually I would love to find work that I could do from home. We'll see what happens.
