Debbie's Story

IM NOT A GOLD MEMBER right now, so please contact me if you would, because I can't write to you.. I'm reveling in the recent 40th class reunion Barstow/Kennedy. I actually graduated from Mission San Jose High, but they haven't had a reuion in years! It was so wonderful to see old (this is getting more meaningful!) friends as well as actually make some new ones. It's rare that you get to be with so many people with whom you have so much in common. Life has changed so since we were in school; computers and microwaves and ipods to name a few. What hasn't changed is a horrible war we don't want to be in and the sadness that washes over me every time I hear of someone else losing their life there. Hold fast to your loved ones and be kind to everyone you meet. That guy who cut you off in traffic is probably having a really terrible life. Just brush it off and think of something that makes you happy. On the home front, my son(22) has just finished (June) a 4-year battle with leukemia that the Doctors didn't think he'd conquer. My daughter turned 39 last December Next year she'll be older than me! She got her nursing license this year and she and my 2 grandsons (14 and 20) seen to be coping with the divorce. I'm still making people beautiful one head at a time. It's so fulfilling to hear someone say their color and cut is 'Perfect!'. I also enjoy do...Expand for more
ing facials and massage. Give someone a hug. I read that some people only get touched when they visit their stylist. How sad. I attended Baptist and Charismatic churches for years of my adult life, but left them (long story about crazy stuff including Richard the Demon possessed). Stayed away for a while and then began looking at metaphysical sprituality and it fit the bill for me. Positive with less condemnation. After some personal healing (the things life can bring on us...) I studied for and became a Reconnective Healer. I try to touch people's live in a positive manner while keeping my sense of humor. I practice yoga (started 2 years ago) which, because all of me including my feet is more flexible, has allowed me to wear the hottest pair of red patent leather 5" heels for New Years this year (My Christmas present to myself). Now all I need is a date! I'm doing everything I can to convince my body that it's 28 (like my mind!) and not 59 like the calendar says. Keep learning, keep doing, and get off the couch. The TV will make you old. Be good to yourself so you can be good to others. Do something new that you are afraid of trying. The best thing about staring down the barrel at 60 is you can quit worrying about failure. They'll just admire you for trying it since you're an old fart :-). Keep on Trukin' my friends.
