Debbie's Story

I went to Business school after graduating. I married Ronnie Bentley 6 months after graduation and am still with him. We divorced once, but were not apart long, and remarried. We had 2 sons Brian and Tommy who are 37 and 30. Brian has given us 4 grand children. I went to Nursing School when I was 34, worked for two eye surgeons and was surgical nurse and Ophthalmic Technician for 15 years. Now I am early retired and left with boring house work. Would rather work. Now we tend to travel to Louisiana often where my grand children live. We, also, go to casinos often, probably more than we should. In between I try to go to church as much as I can. I still love a girl party. Nothing is more fun to me than to get with friends and just be silly. My biggest love is travel but have no travel partner. Ronnie just likes road trips for a long weekend. I want to see the world. Ha. I love people in general. I will never ever forget the time it was my turn to have the cheer team over to my house for a sleep over and practice for the next day. It was devastating to me. My grandmother got drunk, as usual, and...Expand for more
tried to run everyone off. Luckily nobody called their parents to come pick them up and they all stayed with me anyway. It was horrible and I never wanted to go back to school. I was so very emberrassed. But, my friends stuck by me. Experiences like that just give you more character. I survived. It gave me strength that I didn't know I would need later in life. I didn't even like school until I got to Metro. It was small enough that everyone knew most everyone. My high School days were some of the happiest days of my life. I will never forget them. And even though I have not seen most of them since, I made some of the best friends I've ever had there and still think about them. Especially Sandy Knepper, Susie Kendricks, Wanda Lane, Ronnie Lewis, well the list is too long. Does anyone remember the graduation party at my house? So many people were there, some I didn't even know. Cars were parked for blocks. It was at 205 Rice Street by the Deaf & Blind School off Markham. So many, yet I can't remember who all came, except some my closest friends. It was fun! Let me know if you were there.
