Debbie's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to Southern Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, AR. I Married Roger Bennett of Strawberry, AR in Dec., 1981. Mother of 2: daughter Chelsea, born 7/84, and son, Jordan, born 11/86. Lived in Stow, OH 12/81 - 12/86; Cincinnati, OH 12/86 - 8/89; Stow, OH 8/89 - 5/94; Franklin, TN 5/94 - 2/97; and currently in Thompsons Station, TN (about 30 mi. S of Nashville). Husband, Roger is a Southern Gospel musician, co-owner of a Gospel Quartet, "Legacy Five". I run our mail-order business, and act as caregiver and coordinator for Roger, who has had cancer for over 10 years, and has recently undergone 2 bone marrow transplants in under one year. We moved to Houston, TX for about 1 1/2 yrs. to be near MD Anderson Cancer Center (the best!), and we are now back in TN, cancer in remission, and recuperating. We travel a lot, both with and without the group, nationally and internationally. Our kids are wonderful, talented, and great all-around. We live in the country and have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and a great front porch that welcomes friends. We are also involved in all things musical, our church, and all of the daily activities that keep us all busy. I am reluctantly seeing an empty nest looming, but I know I will keep busy doing whatever comes my way. I have often said that my life is a "Plan B" -...Expand for more
I learned many years ago to just roll with the flow, and trust God, because He is in control, and runs things much better than I can anyway! I'd love to hear from some of my former classmates. Just looking at the list made me very nostalgic. And if you are ever near Nashville, let me know you are coming - it would be fun to catch up! I'm a pretty good cook, but we do a lot of eating out for the sake of convenience. Hope to hear from you soon!

UPDATE: Well, it's been a LONG time since I posted this, and a LOT has changed in my life. After 3 bone marrow transplants, I lost my precious husband Roger in March, 2007. I continue to run the mail order business of mainly his piano products, but have since compliled a book,which the 2 of us co-wrote about the journey through cancer. My daughter and I produced some greeting cards. I am blessed to be able to volunteer and travel with the National Marrow Donor Association - I deliver bone marrow from a selfless donor to someone who is awaiting the gift of life. What a rewarding thing to be able to do! And, most recently, I was remarried in November, 2009 to J.B. Savage. I still live in the same area, and I kept "Bennett" as my last name, because it's a lot of work to try to change everything over at this point in my life!
