Debbie's Story
Life
Two years after graduating HS, got married and had two sons, Craig and Brian. Divorced after five years and have been in my second marriage for over 29 years. We have 4 pets, (3 of which are leftovers from when the boys left home 10 years ago), Yorkie dog named Gidget, Monster kitty, and Spike the bird. I have twelve years of college: Electronics, Programming, Court Reporting, Sign Language, Teaching, and Labor Organizing. Retired a factory job after 31 years,(YIKES!!) the last 14 of which I was an officer of the local union. After retirement, went to work as an International Representative for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union where I am currently employed today. ited States extensively, including Hawaii and Alaska. The craziest thing I've done is ride the Olympic bobsled down the track in Park City, Utah with a driver named Lars. (68 MPH and took 60:08 seconds).
College
Studied Electronics; Assembly, Machine, and C programming; and tons of mathematics. Studied two years of Court Reporting, learned lots of law and medicine and have a clear understanding of what's wrong with our judicial system. Studied three years of Sign Language which was a total blast.
Workplace
It's amazing how I've worked 31 years in the same building and have changed employers 6 times: Western Electric; AT&T; Lucent Technologies; Avaya; Celestica; and IBEW. My work history looks like I can't hold a job!!
