Life
PHS BAND #1!!! What great memories!!
After graduating I went to LPN school at the old Mercy Hospital then headed to Columbus where I lived for 10 years. I returned to Portsmouth and worked for SOMC. I graduated from Shawnee and became an RN. I am proud that I worked full time, went to school, and raised a son all at the same time. I never watched soap operas as my life was like one!
Seven of my working years were spent as a Hospice RN. I found it to be the most rewarding and challenging of all. I cannot find the words to express just how much I miss nursing.
After 32 years the old bones and back just gave out and I am now retired. This is a wonderful time since my husband Don has retired and we love to be home together 24/7. Our family consists of five Shih-Tzu dogs, four cockatiels, an African spur thigh tortoise who weighs 17 pounds now (but will live to be 100 and weigh 200 pounds!)and a kinkajou [look that one up!]. Together we have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. We recently downsized and moved back to Portsmouth where we are closer to my family.
We are active in church and my husband is an awesome pianist. ...Expand for more
He often seranades me on his baby grand piano. How blessed I am to be married to the love of my life!
I wish for all of my former classmates the best of God's love and a happy life.
UPDATE: We are foster parent since 2010. The Lord sent Debra to us as a 15 yearsold. We adopted her in 2012. We also are in the process of adopting another teen. But, sadly, I will complete the adoption on my own. My wonderful husband passed on to his heavenly reward on 28 July 2013. He died from complications of cancer treatments. His heart failed him and he was gone in a matter of hours. We are all still in shock. Everywhere I go people are just so upset when they learn of his passing. Even the girls at Aldi's were in tears. He was always upbeat and loved to tell jokes and tease. He was the same at home. So caring and helpful and totally spoiled this old gal. I thank God for the 16 years we shared. We will be laying him to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.in Sept. A fitting honor for giving twenty years of his life to our nation in the US Navy. Our lives will never be the same. But we have to hope of joining him when it is our time to leave.
