Debby's Story
I first met Ed in February 1978 when the US Navy sponsored a trip to CT to see a submarine. Ed was the recruter sent along to convince High School seniors to join the Navy. Hw looked sad, so I sat down next to him to talk. He drove me home and gave me his card - saying maybe we could get together for coffee sometime. When I called his office two weeks later, some girl answered the phone and said "I hope you're Debby - He's been making me crazy every time the phone rings waiting for your call".
We spent the next couple of months together almost every day. He asked me to marry him. The only catch was he was already marri...Expand for more

He eventually went back to his wife and children (financial reasons) and I only heard from him one time after that - when he phoned me from Hawaii to tell me he would always love me, but he couldn't leave his children.
Twenty-one years later when I was miserable with my second husband I went searching on AOL and found him. I sent an e-mail asking "are you the same guy? do you remember me?" and we re-connected. He started sending a dozen roses a week to my office. He was divorced also (twice). We moved in together in July of 2001, and are planning a wedding soon.
Sometimes things do work out - it just takes a while.
