Debevon's Story
Life
After high school graduation it seems my life was destined to have traveling experiences. In 1972 I visited Great Britain for the first time. In 1973 I attended the University of Evansville's overseas campus in England. In 1980 I moved to Denver, Colorado, where I met and married my husband James, who was a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. James is now a Colonel and we have been married for over 25 years. We have one son, Shaun, who is a 1st Lt. in the Marines. Two years ago we added a daughter-in-law to our family. We were blessed to see miracles happen in our lives last year, as we watched Shaun go from near death during his battle with leukemia to making a full recovery. He is currently in remission. In 1982 we started a life of military moves. Our assignments have included being stationed in Denver, CO; Omaha, NE; Colorado Springs, CO (twice); Washington, D.C.; Woomera, South Australia; Montgomery, AL (twice); San Antonio, TX; Vandenberg Air Force Base in Central CA; Stuttgart, Germany; and Carlisle, PA. ampa, FL, but we will only be here for one more month, as James will be retiring from the military at the end of April. After military retirement we will be heading to Huntsville, AL, where we recently purchased a large house that overlooks a lake. In high school I never envisioned my life being what it has become. I have lived in places I never thought possible and have had some wonderfully unique experiences. Examples include: climbing Ayers Rock and snorkeling around the Great Barrier Reef in Australia; spending a week in New York City (all expenses paid); attending an inauguration in Washington, D.C.; taking a paddle boat down the Missouri river; spending time in Corpus Christi, TX; having brunch at the governor's house in Alabama; watching rocket launches in California; Going on a cruise to Mexico...and being chased back to Florida by hurricane Emily!; and visiting what used to be communist countries in Europe. One of the most cherished experiences has been getting to know various people and making friends all over the U.S. and the world.
