Debi's Story

It's January and a time of reflection. So somehow I wound up wondering how high school and college friends are doing now in their 50's... I didn't do the traditional thing: I didn't get married, have kids, or have a big career. What I did do: I went to college to get my teaching credential, in hopes of becoming a missionary. I spent a summer in Honduras in a mission assignment and realized the mission life wasn't for me. I got a M.A. in teaching the blind, couldn't find a job, so went into nursing. In between I went to Colorado and lived in the mts. and learned to ski. So after I graduated from nursing school, I moved to Wrightwood since I loved living in the mts. and skiing. I had various nursing jobs but I also developed some acute health issues which led me to finally go on disability. This prompted a search...Expand for more
in alternative medicine which led me into other professions as well as alleviate much suffering. (It was my trip to Honduras where I had gotten very sick that caused the chronic and then acute problem). Through this journey into health I discovered the Eastern spiritual path and now incorporate eastern and western health and spirituality. I have several different hats since I'm eclectic by nature, but the main one I'm wearing now is as an ordained priest. I do ancient spiritual ceremonies from the vedic (hindu) tradition for healing on all levels, as well as teach. I currently live in Ashland, Oregon where so many of my interests are available. Other ventures are on the horizon for the next year.... Hope you enjoyed the story, and hope you feel free to share yours. Would love to hear how your life is going too...
