Debia's Story
Life
My life bio, hmmmm. Well, after Springbrook, I received a B.A. in physics and an M.S. geology from Emory Univ. Met my husband, Bob, at Emory (also a physics major). We ended up staying in Atlanta with Bob's job with Accenture (previously known as Andersen Consulting); Bob is now a retired partner, and we're people of leisure - said somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I worked with the US Geological Survey until I had my first child, Evan, and now we have two wonderful sons. Since Evan was born (21 years ago - hard to believe), I've been mostly a "stay-at-home" mom, although I'm not home very much. I've done a good bit of volunteering and tennis playing. I'm currently a geology instructor at Georgia Perimeter College, a 2-yr. college in Atlanta.
Children - Evan, 21, is about to enter his senior year at Colby College in Maine; he is on Colby's swim team and spent a semester studying in Paris this fall. Jared is 16 - a rising 11th grader here in Lilburn (suburb of Atlanta), where we live, and he is on the high school varsity swim team. Of course, both boys are well above average (Prairie Home Companion reference). I could go on and on about them (handsome, brilliant, talented......you know the drill). They really are wonderful, and we're very proud parents.

01. I still miss him terribly. My mom is doing pretty well now, although it's been a long period of adjustment for her. She still lives in their wonderful house. Both of my sisters are married to terrific men; Ami is married without children, and Becka is married with 5 children (so if you add up our children and divide by the three of us, we come out with an average of 2.3 children each)! Ami and husband live in eastern Maryland, and Becka and her family live in Silver Spring, just inside the Beltway. Even Bob's two siblings and their families live in Arlington (Bob grew up in Huntsville, AL). We usually come to Silver Spring to visit about twice a year, or so, and my mom comes to visit us as well. We still go up to the family place in New Brunswick, Candada almost every summer; it's still one of the best places I've ever been.
We've had our ups and downs over the years; in particular Bob has had two serious illness in the past 12 years, but he's survived, and overall our lives are great. Future plans? We'll stay where we are, at least for the next 2 years until Jared graduates from high school. Then -- who knows? We aren't tied by jobs, and we've always loved traveling. We'll see what's going on then.
