Deborah Carty:

CLASS OF 1969
Garden city, NY

Deborah's Story

Of all the teacher I had, the one I would most like to see again would be Mr. Boring. I always hated English because I did so lousy on reports and hated the books they assisgned. Mr. Boring changed all that with teaching me how to do an outline and by having me read "The Scarlet Letter". I became a very good writer and have been asked to submit some stories for publication but never have. Thanks Mr. B. At this point of my life to be totally happy all I want is peace, inner peace, which I rarely have since my son and my grandson who is 18 months live with me. I would like a house on the water, be it a river or lake or the ocean (depends on post global warming). I went back to college after a bit more than 30 years and finished by bachelors and became a nurse. Amazing how much I liked history this time around!!! One of my first crushes was Don Clark from the class of 68, he wa...Expand for more
s into photography and a girl from the class of 70 or 71. Hell yes if it was up to me I would wear nothing but "hippie" clothes. thank heavens they are back in style. If I had a do over or a Mulligan it would be on my life because I would do so many things different. My first job was at Travelers Insurance In Garden city, where I got paid not much to pay nursing home bills for Medicare patients. What I remember most about it is working with Ellen Smith from class of 68. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Margaret Werner, because we were best friends and she is now dead or I would be seeing her on a regular basis as I did before her death. I currently live in Santa Barbara county in California. In freshman year book from GC Junior High I said I wanted to live in Malibu on the beach. Well I am about two hours north of Malibu, but alas not on the beach.
