Deborah's Story
I dropped out of school to help my mom when she was injured at work, then married young , had a child and divorced after 7 years, moved to massachusetts after the birth of my 2nd child and lived there for 15 years while working for the treasury department,I traveled back and forth to Rochester once a month to visit with my mom until her death in 1996, in 2000 I transferred to Austin Texas for health reasons, it was getting harder to deal with the cold and snow of New England, little did I know the heat of Texas was not what I needed!!! In March of 2001 I married a fella from the Netherlands, we had met while working on a project and clicked , April and May of 2001 I had to have 2 surgeries back to back, a total hysterectomy and then gallbladder 2 weeks later, after the surgeries I had difficulty walking, then I lost my vision,February 14, 2002 tests showed I had Multiple Sclerosis, the heat was making me worse...Expand for more
, I got a good team of doctors and was determined to beat this rap, I'm not a quitter, 10 months later, December 2002 during one of our famous tornados I was rear ended on the highway on the way home from work and herniated 3 disks in my back and dislocated my shoulder, I was in PT 3X a week and trying to work as much as I could, this lasted til July 2003 when I decided enough was enough,getting up at 3am to be at work at 5:30am 60 miles each way, I retired on disability.
My husband got a job with Intuit, (tax software company) and we moved to Va in March 2004, in Jan 2006 his company transferred him to thier Dallas office, we bought a house in April and moved in with my son who had tearfully left his love in Va and pined for her until she came to visit in October 2006 and she never left, they were married on my birthday last year and are expecting their 1st child and my 1st grandchild in October 2009.
