Deborah's Story

Feb 12, 2020: Once again doing a short update. Still married to that "Trophy Husband". Moved back to Santa Rosa in April 2015 (after living in our RV for 2 years in Windsor looking for an "affordable house"! haha...in Sonoma County????? Ended up with a cute little house on almost 1/2 acre. Got the chickens I wanted! I say that if we didn't have carpet, our house could be a skate park because the floors dip every direction! Oh, brother! Hubby got his great big shop, though! And he's finally having time to tinker around in it. After 2 1/2 yrs without a dog (our sweet Miss Trixie passed away at almost 17 yrs old), we finally decided it was too lonely coming home to an empty house, so we adopted our "new" 10-yr-old doggie about 3 months ago. Feels so nice having a dog in the house again. She loves the car...good thing cuz we took her over 2000 miles last week! Since last update, we've been to Germany and the Netherlands (lucky me got to go to Germany twice!). I LOVE it there! Got to see where my mom grew up in the Netherlands. That was very special. I'm still working as a trainer of laborers, especially spending most of my time teaching and certifying workers in Hazardous Waste Remediation since the fires in Santa Rosa in 2017. It's what I'm doing this week, too. Was certainly disappointing (and scary) getting evacuated again in October 2019 on the night we were supposed to have our 45th Reunion. Sorry to have missed those of you that came so far. Well, fat and sassy me has some work to do. Hope to see you at the rescheduled Reunion! UPDATE 8-25-2014: Guess I should update this thing once in awhile!!??? haha Celebrated 15th anniversary last week. And currently recuperating....went to the ER last Monday and ended up getting my appendix out! sheesh... From 2009: I'm very married (sinceAug. 14, 1999), to the cutest guy ever and I just love the hell out of him. Nobody could ever be cuter, funnier, sexier than he is! He surprises me all the time with sweet words and little gifts. He has stood by my side through my many years of illness. He makes my heart smile. On the day we got married, as "revenge" for him starting to call me the old ball-and-chain two weeks before, I pretended to forget the wedding ring. My sister gave me a bag and sai...Expand for more
d, "Will this do?" And I pulled out a ball and chain and hooked it around his ankle. And that pretty much sums out what our marriage is like! Always kidding around, and loving it. But we had all the kids in the wedding, and that was wonderful. Since we've been together, I've seen so much more of the world. We've been so many places and we're always on the go to one place or another (including some real Hell Holes! see my photo to prove it). Before him, I basically only knew Santa Rosa! We moved away from there 9 years ago and bought a home...right before the prices went berserk! We have three kids between us and they're all grown-up and doing fine. I guess they're okay, as kids go! Okay, maybe even better than just 'okay'. When my oldest daughter got married, I got to make the cake for their wedding. So I immediately started taking cake decorating classes. I've taught cake decorating, too. I still like to do crafts, sewing and gardening (when I get the chance). I love to take lots of photos of animals, birds, nature in general, and the places we go, and people we see. Although most of the photos of my husband are of his BACK, and I'm almost never in them, because I'm taking them! And I still pull little pranks, too. My family never knows what to expect from me. Last year for Christmas, the kids all got a jug of "Cricket Poo"! (It's great fertilizer! Really!) The year before that, they got notepads from Mr. Ellie Pooh (paper made from recycled elephant dung.) Whenever we get time, my husband and I love to go for motorcycle rides on the Road King. When you're on the bike, you just experience so much more of what's around you: the smells, the sights....the bugs...! (grasshopper to the forehead is a real thrill...OW!) I'm on Classmates just looking for a few of my old friends and hoping for some news of our 35-yr Reunion! Yes, it's really been that long! Remember when we were in school and we thought that people who were 30 were really OLD??? Well, nowadays, I call people who are 30 "kids"! Soooo...if anyone hears anything about a reunion, please let us know. Take care everyone. UPDATE 11-11-13: Still married. And never did hear about a reunion. Guess we'd be coming up on a 40 year reunion in 2014? Maybe?
