Nowhere will we experience more of a loss of hope than if we continue on the course where teaching the test is our priority, rather than empowering our children to be inquisitive, critical thinkers and contributors to society. Music and the arts matter. Not more than, not less than, any other subject in our curricula. We must change the tide of mediocrity and demand that these elements be reinstated as what they were in the time of Plato and Socrates – core subjects of study that makes us human.
