Deborah's Story
Life
I moved to Denver, CO in early spring 1991. I enjoy the changing seasons, watching Canadian Geese fly over head, watching eagles and hawks hunt and taking day trips to the mountains with friends. I have a snake that will soon be 15 years old that I take to street fairs (and Denver has a lot of them).
I treat myself to massages every Saturday and workout three days a week with a friend. I do a lot of work with leather (making book covers, Medicine Shields and clothes) and make soap with a friend every few months. Then on the last Tuesday of every month, I get together with a group of women for Ladies Night Out.
I believe that we need to take care of Mother Earth and so I sponsor humpback whales, wolves and sea turtles. The money is used to keep them safe ...Expand for more
and healthy. And keep their enviroments intact. (I am hoping to make it to Alaska this year or next with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. I am hoping to see a whale that I sponsor.)
Workplace
I spent 20 years in Special Education, ten of that working for LA County Schools. I left Special Education after moving to Colorado since their programs were about 15 years behind California in regards to educating anyone with a disability. I have been an interpreter for the deaf for over 30 years now. I was the interpreter for The Denver Women's Chorus for 7 seasons. Nine years ago I started working for a medical insurance company as a Customer Service Rep. I then advanced to a Performance/Quality Auditor and am currently a Document Analyst and Technical Writer.
