Deborah's Story
Speech and theatre were my favorite classes and activities in high school. Since I was never to become the next Hallie Mills,I decided that college was my future. I started my college education at Ball State, then went to Ohio State. I graduated with a BS in Early Childhood Education and Job Training Child Care. After graduation,I moved to Lynchburg, VA -to help my family when my mother found out she had lukemia. I had no intention of stayng in Lynchburg, but I am still here today. After my mother's death in 1976,I helped take care of my younger brother and started working on my Masters of Education at Lynchburg College. I taught in Lynchburg City Schools for 38 years. I was the Instructional Technology Specialist at Paul Munro Elementary. I also was the Cultural Arts Chair, which means that I was the emcee for talent shows and sing-a-longs. So I ended up on a smaller stage than my childhood dreams but that stage was just right for me! Now substitute teaching and loving retirement.

y talented! She has a voice that is a gift wrapped up with a beautiful bow! Don and I have two sons. Neal is teaching drama in Chicago and improv is his "thing." Travis is in college and majoring in recording arts. He has speakers and equipment that could blow all our windows out! Life has been an adventure! Don and I have dreams of getting college paid off then having money to travel - hopefully to Italy where his father was born. In the mean time, Don and I have wonderful friends who make Lynchburg an entertaining and fun place to live.
Update: May 29, 2011 My husband passed away. We never made it to Italy.
