Deborah's Story
Life
- I went to college, married young, divorced early, remained single till Dec 5, 2009, when I married my longtime friend Norman Dreyfuss. I have 2 grown children (daughter and son), and now 2 adult stepsons as well. I owned a commercial sign business for 20 years, sold it in 1998, then sold advertising for military newspapers for 7 years, made some great investments, and am currently retired. I'm a CFI-I, Commercial-Multi-Engine-Instrument Land, and Seaplane rated pilot, ATP, working on turbine (jet) certification, own 3 airplanes, including a new pressurized Piper Mirage. I flew in the 2010-2022 women's Air Race Classic annual races with a team of 2 and 3, won several segment gold medals, placing in the top 12 the past 3 yrs (50-60 teams flew).
I personally fund a scholarship award for selected women pilots to pursue advancement in aviation, and fly whenever I can. I also fly for Pilots N Paws, picking up dogs from kill shelters (TX...Expand for more
, AR, UT, NM) and taking them to Denver/MT/WY/NV where there is greater demand. So far I've rescued over 200 animals. I'm based at Vail, CO.
I presently live in Edwards, CO and Potomac, MD with my husband, who is a real estate developer and budding independent movie producer - be sure to see "Brick", "Under the Same Moon" and "Red"(the one with Brian Cox, not the one with Bruce Willis), now available on Netflix, indie film "Free Ride" starring Anna Paquin, classic comedy horror flick "Knights of Badassdom", and now on cable and DVD "The Haunting of the Mary Celeste". My husband and I travel the world, and vacation as much as possible and relax in our condo in Exuma., Bahamas. We have 4 grandsons (21, 19, 16, and 14), and 2 granddaughters (13 and 12 yrs). Our oldest grandson has his Private Pilot license, and is at Purdue U studying aeronautics. I gave him my smallest Cessna taildragger which he flew to school in Indiana. Life is good.
