Deborah's Story
Life
I work at O'Fallon Church of Christ, simplechristianity dot com, as the secretary, and spend most of the rest of my time trying to keep up with my kids. My oldest, Curtis just received his bachelor's in Youth and Family Ministry from Rochester College in MI. He's now going to pursue a Master's in Ministry. My next, Matthew just finished his first year at Oklahoma Christian, and is trying to figure out what career he'd like to go into. Wow! college is expensive. Kayla just graduated and plans to pursue a degree in art education. Emily will be in 7th grade this year. She has a great personality and loves to sing.
My husband, Hien, is Vietnameze, and works as a union carpenter. He's very skilled and built us a lovely home. The kids and I have had the opportunity to visit his home country twice. We were all there last in 2000. Vietnam is a very interesting place, beautiful country and beaches. Their lifest...Expand for more
yle seems so relaxed. But some of the people live in conditions that we could not even imagine. We are blessed in so many ways in this country, but we seem to take it all for granted. It probably should be mandatory for every American, in their young adult life, to spend some time in a third world country. We might then become more involved in protecting our rights and might appreciate how abundantly rich we really are. We have the ability to make such a difference in helping people all over the world.
When I have the time I like to spend time with friends and family and entertain in our home, especially during the holidays and special occasions. We are very involved with our church. I have enjoyed learning to cook, and eat, Vietnameze foods. I am looking forward to life slowing down a bit, spending time with my children and their families (as that happens) and traveling (our family is spread all over the place).
