Debra's Story
Life
I currently live in Oregon, and have been since 1976! Beautiful country here, with beaches, lakes, mountains, and even a bit of desert. I love it!
I currently work as a technical writer at a software company that writes construction accounting software for Heavy/Highway and General Contractors. I not only write and produce user manuals, but also online help, marketing literature, newsletters, etc. I have been here for 19 years, and love it. Great company, great people.
I have two children, full grown. My son will be 28 this year, and has two daughters: one that is almost 8 and one that is 1 1/2. I love being a grandmother! My daughter will be 26 soon, but she has not yet done the parenthood thing. I think she plans to wait awhile! They are both great kids!
That's it in a quick nutshell! Live has been good to me! What more could one ask for?
School
What can I say...I was a geek. I loved highschool. Would have loved to been more involved in extra-cirricular activities, but I was pretty shy, so the thought of joining groups petrified me. I've since outgrown that...I am definitely alot more outgoing and adventurous.
I had lots of good experiences, a few bad ones. One of my favorite experiences was going to Tempe for a Choir program. It was the first time I had ever been away from my parents on a trip...what a blast that was. Especially since Keith Hollings was on the bus and he was always a ho...Expand for more
ot to hang out with. Wonder how he's doing these days?
Another great highschool experience was camping with my English class. Unfortunately, it was in my senior year, when my mom decided to move us to Seattle, WA. So I was going to Sammammish High School at the time. But our Senior English class and one of the other classes all went camping for the weekend at the beach. Although it was a bit cold, it was the most fun I had ever had. Campfires, stories, hiking, making out...what more could you ask for. No parents around, just the two teachers. And my English teacher was a hoot. It was hard going back home....
My favorite teacher at Palo Verde? Guess I had a few... Mr. Atwater, Mr. Minike, Mr. Stevenson to name a couple. There were also a few I didn't like at all, but no need to mention them.
Life after school has been very interesting. I'm not exactly doing what I thought I would be, but then, I had so many different things I wanted to do, I guess I really had no idea how my life would turn out. With the exception of one or two things though, I wouldn't change a thing. Without the ups and downs I've had, I wouldn't be where I am today, nor would I know the wonderful people I know today. I am where I am supposed to be, and still going strong. I am one of those people who will go to her grave with a shot of tequila in one hand, a hamburger in the other, and a body that has been joyously worn to a frazzle!
