After graduating a year early with the 1974 class, I attended Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth as a music major, then transferred to Southern Illinois where I entered pre-law with a major in political science. I graduated in 1977 and entered law school, graduating in 1980. I was a State government litigator in Chicago for the first 7 years of my career (Asst. Attorney General, Deputy General Counsel for Illinois Dept. of Corrections), then made the move to the entity that liquidates insolvent insurance companies for the State of Illinois. Later I moved to Alexandria, VA and worked in Washington as the General Counsel of the national trade association representing the U.S. reinsurance industry (insurance companies insure themselves with other insurers called reinsurers). I worked in that position for nearly 15 years and accepted a position with Swiss Reinsurance Company, based in Zurich, as the Senior Vice President responsible for regulatory policy in the Americas and selected international issues. After several years I left Swiss Re and began my own insurance/reinsurance arbitration firm and also regulatory consulting/expert witness firm.I work from my two homes in Rockport, Maine and Naples, Florida.
