Debra's Story
It's hard to imagine that next year will be 40 for our class. A lot has happened in that time frame; some good, some not so good. I won't bore you with the details. Just an update on the last few years. In January 2009, I took a job overseas working for the US Army in Germany. I am currently providing early intervention services for military families. I have been able to do a lot of travelling and it has been interesting to see a (slightly) different culture first hand. Having been here 20 years ago I can say that Germans are much more Americanized than they were on my last visit. o choose between visiting my kids and grandkids or traveling in Europe. I hope that I have been able to strike a balance. My contract expires in September 2012 and I am looking to enroll in a program for Infant Mental Health in Pittsburgh. Back to school I guess. I really am ready to change the focus of my career, and it seems that there are a lot more mental health issues in the 8 and under population than I can remember when I started in EI. My on-line classes start in the fall and I only have to show up on campus once or twice in a year. I should be able to work that out. Maybe by our next reunion I will be finished and ready to start a new chapter of my life. Hope to see you all next year!
