Debra's Story
School
So many friends throughout the years and I have lost touch with all of them. Now that I am about to turn 50 I really wish I could turn back the time and give each of them a hug and a hello.
Workplace
After the military, I purchased a small company in Austin, Texas and worked as an environmental consultant for 25 years. Although the company is still in existence and doing great, I left it 18 months ago to my now ex-husband, and headed north to the snow. I immediately got a job as a bank manager and absolutely hated it because of its stiffness and tediousness. I am now the Director of Development at a vocational rehabilitation organization and I absolutely love the position and hope to be here for a very long time.
Military

of the last graduating class of WAC's, I went on to Ft. Gordon to become an 05C20 (Radio/Teletype/Morse Code operator) and was sent to Wurzburg Germany. I got married while in Germany and was then sent to Yuma Proving Grounds. I was discharged from there and joined the Reserves in Oklahoma City and was attached to the 12th Special Forces (now that was fun!) and went to jump school (which hurt!). I went back to Active Duty and became a Recruiter and served out of the Penn Station in Oklahoma City until discharged, at which time I moved to Austin, TX. Some of the most memorable people I knew from my beginning days of the Army have still stayed with me and I would love to find them - Debbie Kiger, Judy Talley, and my roommate Joanne from Pennsylvania (Ft. Gordon).
