Debra's Story
Life
Hummm, what have I been doing since high school, a million years ago? How did we get this old?
I got a B.A. degree in history, right out of high school, moved to Switzerland for 1 year and then basically did nothing with my degree! Got married when I was about 28, husband went to law school while we were having kids-that was not easy!
I had my son, Travis when I was 30, daughter Jaclyn when I was 33. My husband Spencer has been an attorney for many years now. I went back to school when the kids were little and got a degree in nursing (yep, nothing to do with history!).
My son Travis was in the Marine Corps and had two tours of duty in Iraq, actually he was involved in the initial invasion and also the Battle of Fallajuh (spelling?), it was the most stressful and difficult time of my entire life. He is out of the Corps now and came back physically intact, which I will be grateful for the rest of my life.
My daughter Jaclyn is attending college in Aberdeen Scotland, studying computer science. She is freezing her butt off but loves it there. Mom and Dad are painfully footing the bill for foreign tuition and all living costs plus rent, ouch! Have you seen the dollar to the pound conversion? I just flew to Scotland last month to see her and meet the late...Expand for more
st boyfriend. My husband says that her major is Scottish boys, I can't disagree!
I am currently and for about the last 2 years working as a hospice admissions nurse (RN) for a hospice company. It can be quite stressful but you feel like you make a difference in people's lives and that is a wonderful feeling.
I love to travel, always have. I been to Europe many times but the jet lag is really getting to me now-getting older can make it difficult! Also went to China a few years back and stood on the Great Wall...wonderful! Also have been to Japan (hubby has to go there on business a few times a year), Russia, Turkey and Eqypt (that was a long time ago). Still want to go to Greece, South America etc!
Also I am a big dog lover, those of you who also are, can identify. We have a HUGE golden retriever named Clifford and an English Springer Spaniel named Charlotte, my daughter named both of them. They keep us entertained!
We have lived in the same house in Mission Viejo (Orange County) for about 20 years. We just keep remodeling.
Well this is getting too long and boring. I hope all of you are well and healthy. Just think, we could all be retiring in about 10 years! I bet many of you have grandchildren, that will be awhile for me (kids are 22 and 25).
Cheers!
