Debra's Story
I am a horse trainer. I specialize in endurance/distance/competitive trail horses. At this time, i am the stable manager and trainer for the Portsmouth Va Police Dept Mounted Patrol. I carry a Bachelors Degree in Equine Science and an Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Management. I am currently working on my Masters in Equine Science. I have trained and ridden 4 NC State Champions, 2 World Champions and a Quarter Horse Congress Champion. My farm is called Farraway Farm in Suffolk Va. My husband, David, and I have 10 acres that support upwards of 10 horses. My hero is Mr Charles Whittingham. He was a phenomenal horse trainer with an exceptional work ethic. I learned much from him
I have the same obsessions I've always had; horses
I lived in a dorm but people like me are not invited into the Greek system.
My current age is 52. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely right about them but not about me.
In 10 years, I hope to be an independant trainer. I'm going to get there by being very good at what I do.
My first job was at Camp Lejeune Base Stables, where I got paid 1.25 an hour to lead trail rides. What I remember most about it is it was the best job I've ever had.
